Our policy has always said the trash keeps files for 30 days. Until now, that rule was not actually enforced — files in the trash simply stayed there. Starting September 3, 2026, it will work exactly as written:

  • Files and folders that have been in the trash for more than 30 days are permanently removed, with no way to recover them
  • Within 30 days nothing changes: one click restores anything
  • On the effective date, the existing backlog past 30 days — including items deleted long ago — will be cleaned up as well

Please take a look at your trash before September 3 and restore anything you still want. Worth knowing: items in the trash still count against your storage quota, so the cleanup will also free up that space automatically.

Why now: if we say 30 days, it should be 30 days. A rule that is not enforced is worse than no rule. Questions? Reply right here.
