It has been a long time since our last release note. We never stopped shipping — we just kept our heads down. This post catches you up on everything from the past year that actually reaches you as a user, and from now on every release gets its own note here.

What changed

Six areas: the new community, private messages, six interface languages, sharing and downloads, the upload experience, and a batch of speed and reliability work you feel rather than see.

In detail

1. A new community

The community moved off the old forum and onto the new site. There are now four boards — Announcements, Feedback, Help and General — and every historical thread is preserved in the archive.

  • A what-you-see-is-what-you-get editor: headings, lists, quotes, code and images, with a preview before you post
  • Drafts sync across devices, so you can pick up on another machine
  • Tags and site-wide search, instead of paging through old threads
  • Posts in Help and Feedback can mark an accepted answer, so the next reader sees the conclusion immediately

2. Private messages

There is a Messages entry in the left menu, with a conversation list, unread badges and inline replies. Buy a plan and you now also get a thank-you email and a message in your inbox — no more silence after payment.

3. Six interface languages

From the landing page, sign-up and sign-in, file manager, trash and billing through to the share and about pages, the whole site is now translated into six languages, and your choice follows your account. This announcement itself exists in all six.

4. Sharing and downloads, rebuilt

  • Delivery receipt: the share dialog shows "downloaded N times · last one X ago", so you finally know whether your file arrived
  • Save to kzwr: a file someone shared with you can go straight into your own drive — no download-then-reupload
  • QR code sharing: turn a share link into a code and hand it to a phone
  • Redesigned password gate: the page for password-protected files is now two columns, with an explanation of what the file is and how we handle your data
  • A real page when a download fails: it tells you why and what to do next instead of showing a blank screen

5. Uploads

  • Upload tasks live in a docked panel in the bottom-right corner rather than a dialog covering the screen, so you can keep working while files transfer
  • The checksum stage of a large file is shown separately — no more sitting at 0% looking frozen — and "transferred" and "stored" are now distinct states
  • One failed file no longer blocks the rest of the queue
  • You get a warning if you are about to leave the page with uploads still running
  • Automatic endpoint failover: if one upload endpoint becomes unreachable, transfers continue over another one and the chunks already sent are not thrown away

6. Speed and reliability

  • Uploads from mainland China now go straight to the Hong Kong object storage: measured round-trip dropped from roughly 360 ms to roughly 87 ms
  • The first screen loads on demand, so the landing page opens faster
  • Fixed the blank page that could appear when an already-open tab tried to load assets after a new release
  • Backend releases are now rolling: another instance carries the traffic while one restarts, so you should not notice a deployment

One outage worth explaining

On 19 August 2026, from 08:00 to 11:44, uploads failed because a certificate on one of our storage domains expired. The outage lasted about 3 hours 45 minutes and was fixed the same day. Our apologies to everyone affected. The automatic endpoint failover described above has since shipped, so a single endpoint going bad no longer takes uploads down with it.
